CISM strongly believes in the right of all human beings to pursue their physical and intellectual development, without discrimination. One important principle is to promote models of best practice that encourage inclusive opportunities and recognition for athletes with disability equal to those of their non-disabled peers.
CISM believes in international solidarity in accordance with their respective mandates and principles, in particular:
To showcase world class sport opportunities for athletes with disabilities, which are credible and compelling within a global medium and that reach large populations of spectators;
To promote models of best practice that encourage inclusive opportunities and recognition for athletes with a disability equal to those of their non-disabled peers;
To develop support of sport opportunities for male and female athletes with a disability;
To empower Para-athletes as leaders in their societies and more widely.
In this way, CISM invites the national delegations of the CISM Member Nations and the organizing committees of the CISM World Championships to consider Para-Sport discipline as a means of reflecting the goals of CISM development and the ideals of the military sports movement.
