31st WMC Wrestling – Skopje (MKD) – Day 3

SKOPJE (MKD) – In the framework of the 31st World Military Wrestling Championship in Skopje (MKD), the last Freestyle competitions (men and women) took place yesterday, September 22, in the following categories: Men’s Freestyle 74kg, Men’s Freestyle 86kg, Men’s Freestyle 97kg, Men’s Freestyle 125kg, Women’s Freestyle 60kg, Women’s Freestyle 63kg, Women’s Freestyle 69kg and Women’s Freestyle 75kg.

In the women’s freestyle 60kg category, Chen Xiaofang confirmed the Chinese domination in this WMC Wrestling with a new gold medal. Joice Souza Da Silva (BRA) is ranked second and Veranika Ivanova (BLR) takes the third place. In 63kg, the Polish wrestler Monika Michalik took the first place of the competition ahead of Jia Liping (CHN) and Daline Gomes dos Reis (BRA). Agnieszka Wiesczek Kordus imitated her teammate Michalik by winning the gold medal in the 69kg category. She managed to defeat the silver medalist Wang Chunying (CHN) and the bronze medalist Aleksandra Peshova, who won a second medal for the host country. Finally, in the last women’s freestyle competition, the 75kg category, Aline Da Silva Ferreira (BRA) finished on the first step of the podium thanks her two victories against Maria Louiza Vryoni (GRE) and Elena Belinska (MKD) who respectively won the silver and bronze medal.

In the men’s freestyle competition, Khetik Tcabolov, from Russia, won the gold medal in the 74kg category just ahead Mohamad Zarei (IRI), silver medalist, and Nurgali Zholaiyev (KAZ) as well as Ashraf Aliyev (AZE), both bronze medalists. In the men’s freestyle 86kg event, Shamil Kudiiamagomed (RUS) dominated the competition while Adilet Davlumbayev (KAZ) won the silver medal and Mostafa Ghiasi (IRI) and Radoslav Marcinkiewicz (POL) finished on the third step of the podium.

Another gold medal for Russia in the 97kg category with the first place of Abdulsalam Gadisov. Aikhan Jumayev (KAZ) finished on the second step of the podium just ahead of Ivan Yankouski (BLR) and Minwon Seo (KOR), both bronze medalists. The men’s freestyle competition ended up with the 125kg category and the 3^rd gold medal of the day for the Russian delegation thanks to Alan Khugaev. The German wrestler Johannes Kessel is ranked second while Koungjin Nam (KOR) and Jaafar Shams Nateri (IRI) both won the bronze medal.
