31st WMC Wrestling – Skopje (MKD) – Day 4 & 5

 

 

SKOPJE (MKD) – The last two days of competition of the 31st World Military Wrestling Championship in Skopje (MKD) were dedicated to the Greco-Roman competitions (only men) in the following categories: men’s Greco-Roman 59kg, men’s Greco-Roman 66kg, men’s Greco-Roman 71kg, men’s Greco-Roman 75kg, men’s Greco-Roman 80kg, men’s Greco-Roman 85kg, men’s Greco-Roman 98kg, men’s Greco-Roman 130kg.

 

 

The Russian wrestlers were very impressive during the Greco-Roman competitions with three gold medals: Lokiyaev (RUS) won the 59kg category ahead of Hajipour (IRI). Ainagulov (KAZ) and Mammadov (AZE) are sharing the bronze medal. Kiiakin imitated his teammate Lokiyaev in the 66kg category while silver medal goes to Mammadov (AZE) and Karecinski (POL) and Sleiva (LTU) finished on the third step of the podium.

 

 

The last Russian gold medal goes to Sazeev who took the first place in the 85kg category. Abbasov (AZE) is ranked second, Janikowski (POL) and Shyshman (UKR) are ranked third. The wrestlers from Belarus managed to win two gold medal thanks to Hrabovik (98kg) and Berdyiev (75kg). Aliyev (AZE) was the strongest wrestler in the -71kg category while Eisele (GER) and Nabi (EST) respectively won the gold medal in the 80kg category and 130kg category.

 

 

Russia also won the Nations’ Cup ahead of Azerbaijan and Ukraine. The Lieutenant Abdusalam Gadisov was awarded the trophy of “Most Valuable Wrestler” while Sgt. Adam Juretzko (GER) received the Fair-Play trophy!

The Opening Ceremony took place in presence of Zoran Jolevski, Minister of Defense, Lt-Gen Metodija Velichkovski, Chief of General Staff of the Army of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Elizabeta Chupovska Ristova, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and President of the Organizing Committee and Colonel Nelson de Jesus Lopes, CISM OCR. In his speech, the CISM OCR congratulated the OC for the organization of the event and the excellent welcome.
