73rd CISM GA preparations are supported by the highest instances in Dominican Republic

PUNTA CANA (DOM) - In the frame of a preparatory visit in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, CISM officials were invited to protocol audiences with several high national authorities. Mr. Olivier Verhelle, CISM HQ CEO, was received by Minister of Defense, Lieutenant-General Ruben Dario Paulino Sem, who confirmed his complete support to the organization of the CISM MWC Taekwondo next October in Santo Domingo as well as the General Assembly and Congress in April 2018 in Punta Cana. 

Later on, successively the Vice Minister of Sports, Mr. Soterio Ramirez, and Mr. Luis Mejia Oviedo the President of the National Olympic Committee of Dominican Republic, invited Mr. Verhelle and President of the Military Sports Association of the Dominican Armed Forces, Vice Admiral Juan Ramon Soto de la Rosa, for a protocol visit.

These highest levels of sports organization in Dominican Republic agreed to underline the huge role that the Armed Forces play at national and regional levels to offer the best conditions to the Dominican Athletes to train, compete and perform at the highest stages. The National Olympic Committee officials reminded that in some cases, the national team and Olympic teams are composed by 90 % of athletes from the Armed Forces.
