7th CISM Asia Meeting strengthens bonds for peace and collaboration in Nanchang

NANCHANG (CHN) - The 7th CISM Asia Meeting convened from March 25th to 28th, 2024, in Nanchang, China, marking a significant gathering of esteemed delegates from across the Asian continent in presence of the CISM Secretary General Navy Captain Roberto Recchia. This prestigious event brought together representatives from 17 nations, including Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Myanmar, Oman, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.

 

At the commencement of the meeting, distinguished leaders including the CISM Secretary General and Vice President of Asia conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to the People's Republic of China for graciously hosting the Asia Meeting. China's pivotal role in orchestrating CISM events was lauded, underscoring the nation's commitment to fostering international cooperation in the realm of sports and beyond. The Cambodian delegation was warmly welcomed into the CISM family, with best wishes extended for their future endeavours within the organization.

The agenda for the meeting included a series of impactful sessions, commencing with the Opening Ceremony on March 26th, graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Major-General Zheng Wei, Deputy Chief of the Training & Administration Department of the Central Military Commission and Chief of the Chinese delegation to CISM; and Mr. Wan Guangming, Mayor of Nanchang Municipal Government. Following the ceremonial proceedings, delegates participated in engaging discussions led by Vice-President of Asia, Brigadier General Rashid Aldosary, who welcomed attendees and set the tone for constructive dialogue.

 

Throughout the deliberations, participants engaged in fruitful discussions centering on the Asian continent's pivotal role in hosting CISM sporting, academic, and scientific events, both regionally and globally. Key topics and issues pertinent to the activities of the Asian Continent were deliberated upon, with insights shared and strategies formulated to enhance cooperation and synergy among member nations.

CISM Secretary General, Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, delivered an insightful address outlining the organization's upcoming initiatives and activities, further reinforcing the commitment to advancing the collective goals of CISM. The meeting underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in advancing the objectives of CISM, fostering unity, and promoting peace through sport.

 

The proceedings on March 27th were marked by a cultural day, providing delegates with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich heritage of Nanchang. A visit to the historic Nanchang August 1st Memorial Hall offered insights into the region's cultural and historical significance, further fostering camaraderie and understanding among participants. The meeting culminated with a solemn Closing Ceremony in the evening, symbolizing the conclusion of fruitful deliberations and paving the way for continued collaboration among CISM member nations.
