Impressive performances marked the second day of the 1st World Military Para Athletics Championship in Jesolo

JESOLO (ITA) - The 1st WMC Para Athletics witnessed a spectacular second day of competition on March 23 in Jesolo, Italy, where military athletes showcased remarkable skills and determination.

 

In the 100m Standing event, Italy's Carlo Calcagni seized the first position, followed by the German Maik Mustschke in second place and Marc Malm (FRA) in third.

 

Continuing his dominance, Calcagni clinched the gold medal again in the 400m Standing event, with Pierrick Roumanet (FRA) securing the second spot and Laurentiu Seobao (ROU) finishing third.

 

Day 2 (8)

 

Carlo Calcagni also set new European Records for both the 100m and 400m events.

 

The Frenchman Sebastien Pradalier, who already participated in the 33rd World Military Cycling Championship in Poitiers (FRA) in 2021, emerged victorious in the 400m Sitting event.

 

The Long Jump event witnessed a remarkable performance by Patrick Roumanet (FRA), securing the first position, followed by another Frenchman, Marc Malm, in second and the Italian Jacopo Maria Curzi in third.

 

In the Discus F33 - 54 - 55 category, Italian Giuseppe Campoccio, a legend of the parasport community, secured the top spot, with Brazilians Rosa Fernando Ottoni and Douglas Ferreira Soares claiming second and third positions, respectively.

 

Day 2 (6)

 

The same Giuseppe Campoccio showcased outstanding strength and skill to clinch the gold medal in the Shot Put F33 - 54 category, with Rosa Fernando Ottoni (BRA) and Fabio D’Achille (ITA) securing the second and third spots.

 

In the Shot Put F56 - 57 event, Douglas De Oliveira Firmino (BRA) claimed the top spot, followed by Moreno Marchetti (ITA) in second place and Vincenzo Contemi (ITA) in third.

 

The Shot Put F13 - 36 - 42 - 63 - 64 category saw the Greek Fotios Ntimeris securing the first position, while Orlando De Freitas (BRA) and Alexander Ulrich (GER) claimed second and third places, respectively.

 

Day 2 (1)

 

On the women's front, the Greek Soultana Keramyda displayed exceptional prowess in the Javelin event, clinching the gold medal, followed by Brazilian Marcia Carvalho Ribeiro in second place.

 

Soultana Keramyda continued her winning streak by securing the gold medal in the Shot Put event, with Marcia Carvalho Ribeiro from Brazil taking the second position.

 

The 1st World Military Para Athletics Championship will end today, March 24, with the last competitions and the Closing and Awarding Ceremony. This last day will once again allow us to witness extraordinary performances, as well as the indomitable spirit and talent of military athletes from around the world.
