1st CISM Women's World Football Cup in Rennes (FRA) – Day 2

RENNES – Despite a forced change of competition venues, the organizing committee, in collaboration with the PCSC Committee, showed composure and professionalism. Thanks to them, all the games of this first day of competition finally took place.

The first games of the competition took place in two different venues: the Commander Bougoin Stadium in Rennes and the Roger Belliard Stadium in Cesson-Sevigne. In the Bougoin Stadium, the spectators could attend an incredible show of the skydiving French team, who brought the CISM flag on the pitch. In Rennes, France faced the Netherlands and the French team left no chance for the players of the flat country. From the time the game started, France dominated the game and it was not a surprise to see France wining with 5 goals of advance (6-1).

In the other game, the stadium Commander Bougoin, Cameroon was opposed to the young Canadian team. The Cameroon players showed a very offensive and rude play and Canada could hardly resist. After 30 minutes, after numerous shots on target of Cameroon, the ball finally passes the goal line and Cameroon leads 1/0. Before the end of the first half, the score raised to 2-0. Finally 10 minutes before the final whistle, Cameroon scored a third goal for an impressive victory.

In the Roger Belliard stadium, the game between Brazil and South Korea was the highly expected match by football specialists. Indeed, these two teams have high hopes to win the trophy. The match was pretty tight, Brazilian players showing their incredible technical skills while Korean demonstrated an unwavering discipline. Nevertheless, the two nations adopted a “wait and see” approach and the game was more tactical than physical. Finally, Brazilian Larissa Pereira score the only goal of the game, bringing simultaneously the victory to Brazil (1-0).

In the other game at the stadium Roger Belliard, the German faced the US just after a thunderstorm and heavy rain that watered copiously the field. Germany seemed more organized and stronger in all the gaming sectors, thanks to their experience gained during the last CISM World Summer Games. This time, Germany is determined to reach the final as we could see with this 2-0 victory against USA.

Saturday, May 28, all eyes will turn to two top games: France-Cameroon and Brazil-Germany.

Results of the day (26/05/2016):

France - Netherlands 6 -1

Cameroon - Canada 3-0

Brazil - South Korea 1-0

Germany - USA 2-0
