1st CISM Women's World Football Cup in Rennes (FRA) – Day 3

RENNES – For the second day of competition of the 1^st CISM Women’s World Football Cup in Rennes, spectators could attend spectacular games. In the first game of the day, France faced a courageous Cameroonian team in front of a large audience, enhanced by the presence of many VIP guests including Army Gen. Pierre de Villiers, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, one of the highest military authorities in France.

As in the first game, easily won by the French team, the French players directly wanted to show to their opponents their status of favorites of the tournament. After two minutes, Gendarme Seraphine Maïlasso already scored the first goal for France. And it was a very long and tough game for Cameroon as they conceded 5 more goals. With this 6-0 victory, France took the first place of the Group A.

In the game between Brazil and Germany which took place in the Stadium of Rennes, the Brazilian team once again demonstrated their technical skills against a young German team. Germany could count on the incredible saves of their goalkeeper during 35 minutes. But after 38 minutes, Tania Ribeiro scored the first goal of the game, giving a 1-0 lead to Brazil. The game ended up with a 3-1 victory for the Brazilian team which took in the same time the first place of the Group B.

At the Stade de la Rabine in Vannes, the Netherlands faced Canada. And it was a great surprise to see the two teams going back to the locker rooms with a 1-0 advantage for Canada. The instructions of the Dutch coach during the half time became directly effective as Danielle Van Der Velde equalized in the 48^th minute. Thanks to this goal, the Dutch players were liberated and scored a second goal for the victory (2-1)

Finally, there was no surprise in the game between South Korea and USA in Rennes. The Korean team, physically and tactically stronger, gave no chance to the US team (3-0). It was a good way to forget their initial loss against Brazil.
