Visit of the CISM President and CISM Secretary General to the 6th OSMA General Assembly

 

 

MARRAKECH (MAR) - Colonel Hervé Piccirillo, CISM President, and Colonel Dorah Mamby Koita, CISM Secretary General, went to Marrakech as part of the 6th OSMA General Assembly (Organization of Military Sport in Africa). This event, organized by the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) on High Instructions from His Majesty the King, Supreme Chief and Chief of Staff General of the Royal Armed Forces, was held from March 3 to 10, 2019 in the presence of representatives and Chiefs of Delegation from 38 participating African countries.

As a prelude to the Opening Ceremony of the event, the CISM President and Secretary General paid an official visit to Rabat for a wreath laying ceremony at the Mohammed V Mausoleum, a royal tomb built between 1961 and 1971, a visit by the Villa des Arts in Rabat and the Sports Center of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces and an audience with General Abdelfatah Louarak, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces of Morocco.

The Opening Ceremony was held at the Royal Air Forces Base School (BEFRA) in Marrakech in the presence of the following Moroccan authorities - the official representative of the OSMA President, Brigadier General Katirima Manoni Phinehas, General corps, the Inspector General of the FAR, the Lieutenant General of the Royal Gendarmerie, the Air Divisional General, the Inspector of the Royal Air Forces, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rachid Talbi Alami, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of the National Defense Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi, the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Morocco and the National Olympic Committee and a distinguished guest, Ms. Laval El Moutawakel, 400m hurdles Olympic champion at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and now a member of the International Olympic Committee.

 

 

“CISM is committed to accompany and promote military sport in Africa” declared CISM President. He also noted that “Military sport is an opportunity to shine this continent internationally and highlight its human potential, natural and economic”.

Colonel Hervé Piccirillo also called for developing paramilitary sport by accompanying and allowing "military wounded" to practice sport.

The OSMA General Secretary, Captain Frégate Djendola Pierre, expressed the OSMA's gratitude and gratitude to HM King Mohammed VI who kindly agreed to have this statutory meeting held in Morocco.

 

 

Among the items on the agenda of this GA were included the review of the regular organization of events in different sports in Africa, the confirmation of the Treasurer General of OSMA in the quality of Colonel Major Brahima Diabate , the adoption of the report of the Secretary General of the OSMA, the adoption of the report of the Treasurer General and presentation, consideration and adoption of the 2019 budget, the election of the Vice-President of the OSMA, the presentation of the situation of the nominations to the CISM Steering Committee, the presentation of the report on the situation of the liaison offices by the chairpersons of the liaison offices and the review of annual fees.
