NEDER-OVER-HEMBEEK (BEL) – On August 8, at Queen Astrid Military Hospital, a meeting was held between the International Committee of Military Medicine (ICMM), a centenary body recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the international institution specialized in military medical matters, and the Académie du Conseil International du Sport Militaire (ACISM), CISM's scientific and pedagogical studies center.

Built on the principle of neutrality and impartiality, ICMM provides a forum for knowledge sharing and cooperation between medical and health services of Member States’ armed forces. Using of universal language of medicine to bring together the global military medical community, ICMM is the publisher of the journal (International Review of the Armed Forces and Medical Services).

The institutions, partners since 2014 through a Memorandum of Understanding, have several points of mutual interest, with significant and real potential for advancement. Thematic sessions at both symposia on a topic of interest have already been defined as one of the concrete actions for cooperation.

The CISM was represented by Colonel Dorah Mamby Koita, CISM Secretary General, and Lieutenant-Colonel Rafael Soares Pinheiro da Cunha, ACISM Manager, who were received by Major-General Geert Laire, ICMM Secretary General, and Major-General Pierre Neirinckx, Deputy Secretary General of the ICMM.

A new meeting with the decision makers of both institutions is scheduled to December in order to present the concrete planned actions to the upcoming scientific events.
