11th WMC Golf – China Bay (SRI) – Update – Competition Day 2

 

 

THE US PLAYERS KEEP THE LEAD ON THE GREENS OF THE EAGLES' GOLF LINKS!

 

CHINA BAY (SRI) – The second round of the 11th WMC took place yesterday at the Eagles’ Golf Links in China Bay (Sri Lanka) and there were no major changes in the different rankings at the end of the day.

 

 

After taking the lead yesterday with a par during the first round (72), the Lieutenant Benjamin Hayes (USA) achieved the second best result of the second round (75; +3) just two strokes behind OR3 Aymeric Laussot (FRA) who impressed the observers with a 73 score (+1). Despite this second place, Hayes is still leading the provisional ranking (147 - +3) ahead of Laussot, OR1 Nicolas Calvel (FRA) and OR Nickjulius Bachem (GER), as the three of them finished the second day with a total score of 156 strokes (+12).

 

 

The US male team, composed of Hayes, Wesolowski, Broussard, Macias, Maura and Dishman, kept the lead of the Team Competition with a total score of 641 strokes, just 12 shots ahead of Canada (Boozan, Cameron, Swansburg, Moore, Ridyard and O’Donnel) and France (Calvel, Laussot, Lefay, Norman, Rond and Alba) with 653 strokes.

 

 

In the women’s individual competition, Sergeant Malanie de Leon increased her lead as she finished the second round with 81 shots, 2 points ahead OR2 Annyssia Herbaut and Major Linda Heffery (83).

After two rounds, De Leon (160) has now a six strokes-lead ahead of Herbaut (166) while Jeffery is now ranked third with a total 169 strokes.

 

 

The female team ranking did not change from yesterday as USA is leading the provisional ranking with 329 strokes ahead of France (Herbaut, Golf and Riguidel – 351 strokes) and Canada (Kelly, Jones and Gaudet – 369).

Finally, WO Naser Mubaak (BAH) and OR9 Francisco Javier Gonzalez Castro (ESP) took the lead of the senior’s competition with a score of 160 after two rounds, ahead of MCPL Stirling Swansburg from Canada (164) who is provisionally ranked third.
