Board of Directors 2017/3 – Wuhan City (CHN) – Update – Day 2 & 3

WUHAN CITY (CHN) – On November 22, the CISM President Colonel Abdulhakim Alshino successfully concluded the 3rd and 4th sessions of the third Board of Directors Meeting 2017 that took place in the Wuhan International Conference Center. The meeting was followed by an official dinner in presence of the Wuhan high authorities.

On November 23, the CISM delegates achieved an inspection visit of the venues that will host the 7th CISM World Summer Games in 2019. In accordance with the OC SG Xi Jinping’s “green, sharing, open and incorrupt” concept for the sports events, combining the characteristics of the CISM World Games, all the venues of the Wuhan CISM World Games are planned and built under the principle of “meeting the needs of the games, facilitating the organization of the games, showing green ecology and using the facilities after the games (legacy of the games). 31 venues will be used during the 7th CISM WSG including 10 brand new venues and 21 renovated venues located in four areas on both sides of the Yangtze River.

The delegates successively inspected the Athletes Village and the Wuhan Sports Center including the main stadium, which will host the Opening Ceremony and the Track and Field events, and the Gymnasium, which will host the Volleyball competition and the Closing Ceremony.  Lastly, the CISM representatives inspected the preparation works of the Main Media Center, a brand new venue that will be transformed into an ice sports stadium after the games.

Following this inspection visit, the CISM President Colonel Abdulhakim Alshino, the CISM Secretary General Colonel Dorah Mamby Koita, the CISM BoD Members and the CISM Staff attended a briefing about the preparations of the 7th CISM World Games done by the respective Heads of Department of the SUMOC.

Right after this Briefing, the Closing Ceremony of the third Board of Directors Meeting 2017 took place in the Wuhan International Conference Center in presence of the CISM President, the CISM Secretary General, the BoD Members in attendance,  the Vice Director of the Wuhan Executive Committee of the 7th CISM World Sumer Games and Director of Military World Games Colonel Jia Shijiang, the Chief of Delegation of China to CISM and BoD Member Major General Ma Kaiping, the Principal of Navy Engineering University Rear Admiral An Li, members of the CISM Family and of the CISM Staff and local high authorities.

The CISM President thanked the Chinese authorities for the organization of the BoD and officially declared the third CISM Board of Directors Meeting closed.

The CISM President also officially handed over the CISM Flag to the VP Europe and Member of the BoD Colonel Dirk Schwede as the next BoD Meeting will take place in February 2018 in Nice in the framework of the 70th CISM Anniversary.
