CISM signs MoU with FIE

 

 

LAUSANNE (SUI) - On 27 March, in the Olympic capital, the partnership between the International Military Sports Council (CISM) and the International Fencing Federation (FEI) was formally agreed with the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding.

The MoU aims to develop training and competition amongst the  professional or amateur military sportsmen, encourage the implementation of women’s military sport, establish true synergies in the sports fields between both institutions; identify shared goals and objectives between CISM and FIE, set up joint educational initiatives to protect Fencing against the dangers of doping, establish collaboration in the area of International Technical Officials and promote the values of sport and Fencing.

 

 

The CISM Secretary General Colonel Dorah Mamby Koita (GUI) and the FIE Secretary General Emmanuel Katsiadakis (GRE) respectively signed the document.

The elaboration of the document and the negotiations for its accomplishment were initiated by José Carlos Salgueiro Pinheiro (BRA), former CISM Sports Committees Manager, and finalized by his substitute Lieutenant Colonel Rafael Soares Pinheiro da Cunha (BRA). The President of the CISM Fencing Sport Committee is Colonel Jose Alberto Monge (ARG).

Initiatives of this nature aims to promote the development of the civilian-military relationship, increase the network of partnerships and allow the insertion of military sport and CISM within similar civilian institutions, generating positive effects throughout military sports structure all over the world.
