Rio 2016 Olympic Games - CISM Top Athletes Results - Update 12

 

 

RIO DE JANEIRO – Once again, on the Competition Day 18 at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games, the CISM Top athletes achieved wonderful performances: 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 6 bronze medals. In sailing, the Brazilian 3° SG (Navy) Martine Soffiatti Grael and 3° SG (Navy) Kahena Kunze won the gold medal in the 49er FX Women’s medal race.

 

 

Two more gold medal for the Brazilian army with 3° SG (Navy) Alison Conte Cerutti and 3° SG (Navy) Bruno Oscar De Almeida Nogueira Schmidt who won the beach volleyball men’s tournament final against the Italian team composed of 1° Aviere Paolo Nicolai and 1° Aviere Daniele Lupo 2 sets to 0 (21-19 21-17).

 

 

In the men’s field hockey tournament, Sergeant Tom Grambusch and Lance Corporal Niklas Wellen, representing Germany, took the bronze medal after their victory against the Netherlands (1-1; 3-4 after penalty shoot-out) in the bronze medal contest.

 



 

 

In sailing, 1ère classe Camille Lecointre and Matelot Hélène Defrance from the French “Armée des Champions” took the third place of the 470 women medal race. Thanks to this result, the French “Armée des Champions” now counts 13 medals since the beginning of these Olympic Games.

 

 

The German sailor Petty Officer 2nd Erik Heil also took the bronze medal in the 49er men medal race event with Thomas Ploessel.

 

 

Finally, in taekwondo, Hedaya Ahmed Malak Wahba (EGY), who took the gold medal in the -62kg category in the 2015 CISM World Summer Games in Mungyeong, finished on the third step of the podium in the women's -57kg here in Rio de Janeiro! It’s also the first time that an Egyptian woman won a medal in taekwondo at the Olympic Games.
