20th WMC Equestrian (Show Jumping) – Fontainebleau (FRA) – Day 2 & 3

 

 

FONTAINEBLEAU (FRA) – The final of the 20th WMC Equestrian took place on October 23 in le Grand Parquet de Fontainebleau. The day before, two riders were were still head to head with 47 points: SET MAJ Ali Ahmed Mansoor (BRN) and ADJ Donatien Schauly (FRA) while the French rider and Olympic medalist Lieutenant-Colonel Thibaut Vallette was ranked third with 46 points. The spectators could thus expect a final full of suspense. The final round was scheduled as followed: a competition with jump off, maximum height 1.25m with maximum 12 obstacle (2 doubles or 1 triple). Prior to the final, the spectators attended a wonderful demonstration of the riders of the Republican Guard and of the Cadre Noir de Saumur.

 

 

The final took place in front of many spectators and it kept all its promises as Adjutant Donatien Schauly from France, with his horse Quinoa Polka, once again achieved a great performance with a faultless course in 45”. What a way to become the new military world champion! With a fifth place in the final round (4 points in 72”13), the Olympic gold medalist Lieutenant-Colonel Thibaut Vallette and his horse Alexandros managed to grab the silver medal thanks to better time in the last round than the SET MAJ Ali Ahmed Mansoor, who was riding Melissa de Venibus  (4 points in 73”59). The rider from Bahrain, who was leading the competition before the final round was left to settle for the third place of the final ranking!

 

 

Lieutenant Rodrigo Abella (URU) and CNE Estevao Grossi Aguiar da Silva (BRA) completed the podium of the final round.

France also won a second gold medal with the title in the team ranking event! Congratulation to ADJ Donatien Schauly, ADV Benjamin Courtat and LCL Thibaut Vallette! The Brazilian team, composed of CNE Estevao Grossi Aguiar da Silva, CNE Rodrigo Barros de Oliveira and MAJ Marcelo Ferme dos Santos, were ranked second while Bahrain (SET MAJ Ali Ahmed Mansoor, SOLD Mohammed Khalid Hilal and L.CPL Faraj Saber Salman) took the bronze medal!

 

 

Right after the end of the competition, the Awarding and Closing Ceremony took place in presence of the CISM OCR Lieutenant-Colonel Walter Borghino, the Equestrian PCSC Colonel Max André Barbacini, the CISM HQ Representative and Results Manager & Para-Sport Advisor Major Guilherme Keese, the Commander of the CNSD and Chief of Delegation of France to CISM Commissaire en Chef de 1ère classe Hervé Piccirillo, the Commander of the French Military Riding School Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Maksud, the Seine-et-Marne Prefect Béatrice Abollivier, the Seine-et-Marne Sub-Prefect Mrs. Maïa Rohner and the Fontainebleau Mayor Frédéric Valletoux.
