WUHAN (CHN) – On October 16, the defending champion Brazil defeated Canada 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-12) in the first match of Women’s Volleyball competition of the 7th CISM Military World Games (7th CWG).

For the first game of the tournament, Brazil, the defending champion, was facing Canada. And from the start of the match, the Brazilians took the lead with a very offensive game. During the three sets of the match, the Brazilians would sometimes total up to 15 points ahead.

In addition to its offensive qualities, the Brazilian team could also count on a fairly large difference in size between the two teams, with a maximum size of 1.90m for Brazil and 1.85 for Canada.

Despite the difference in level, the Canadian women never abdicated and fought to the end to score as many points as possible to the applause of the public.

"It's in the spirit of the sport to fight to the end in a difficult situation", said one spectator.

Joely Christian declared about the game: “It was a tough start; Brazil is a fantastic team. We did our best on serve but our defense was too slow. We played well, but we should have done better".
