The 7th CISM World Summer Games stage a special torch relay

WUHAN (CHN) – On October 16, 100 torchbearers gathered for the Torch Relay of the 7th CISM Military World Games (7th CWG) along the lakefront of the East Lake in Wuhan. The torch relay set off the final count-down of the grand opening ceremony of the 10-day multi-sports Games.

The torch relay started with the lighting of the first torch by the flame in a special fire-lamp. This fire-lamp was ferried to Wuhan from Nanchang, which was the place where the Chinese military was founded in 1927.

The 100th torch was then used to re-light the fire-lamp to keep the 7th CWG flame lit for the Opening Ceremony which will be held on October 18.

Apart from the 100 torchbearers, the 7th CWG Organizing Committee deputy chairman Li Huohui, Hubei provincial governor Wang Xiaodong and Communist Party of China Hubei provincial secretary Jiang Chaoliang were also present.

The CISM President Colonel Hervé Piccirillo had the honor to light up the first torch.

The 7th CISM World Summer Games will be held from October 18 till 27 with 25 competition and two demonstration sports, with a total of 329 gold medals.
