Gold for Italy's Bacosi and Rossetti, strong performances by military athletes on Day 10

PARIS (FRA) - In a thrilling tenth day of the Paris 2024 Olympics, military athletes from the CISM Member Nations showcased their remarkable talents and determination across various events. As the Olympic flame continues to burn brightly, these athletes delivered performances that will be remembered. 

 

The standout moment of the day came in the Shooting Skeet Mixed Team event, where Italy’s 1° Corporal Diana Bacosi and her teammate Gabriele Rossetti clinched the gold medal in a nail-biting finish against the USA. Their victory, with a final score of 45/44, brought immense pride to their nation and highlighted the precision and composure required in the sport.

In the Shooting - Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol, OF-1B Pavlo Korostylov of Ukraine narrowly missed a podium finish, securing 5th place with a score of 16. Italian Corporal Massimo Spinella finished closely behind in 6th place with a score of 10, demonstrating the high level of competition among the CISM athletes.

 

The artistic gymnastics event saw OF-3 Oleg Verniaiev of Ukraine achieving an 8th place finish in the Men's Parallel Bars with a score of 13.300.

 

In the Track & Field Women’s Discus Throw, Italy's Corporal Daisy Oyemweinosa Osakue earned an 8th place finish with a commendable throw of 63.11m.

The Canoe Slalom - Women's Kayak Cross saw Private Alena Marx of Switzerland battling through to finish 6th, after a strong second place in the small final.

 

The Triathlon Mixed Relay featured a strong showing from French athletes, with Maréchal des Logis Pierre Le Corre, Matelot Emma Lombardi, Sergent Léo Bergere, and their teammate Cassandre Beaugrand securing 4th place with a total time of 1:26:47. This performance highlighted their endurance and teamwork.

 

Private First Class Cathia Schär and Private First Class Max Studer of Switzerland, along with Sergeant Miguel Lopes Hidalgo, Private Manoel Messias do Santos Junior, Sergeant Djenyfer Arnold, and Sergeant Vittoria Lopes of Brazil, also displayed remarkable effort and sportsmanship, finishing 7th and 8th respectively.
