CISM Board of Directors Meeting 2024-1 concludes second day of meetings

BRUSSELS (BEL) - The second day of the CISM Board of Directors Meeting 2024-1 held at the CISM Headquarters in Brussels saw significant discussions and decisions shaping the future of the International Military Sports Council.


Led by CISM President Colonel Nilton Rolim and Secretary General Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, the session convened with the presence of esteemed members, including CISM Treasurer General Colonel Sven Serré and PCSC-Representative Lieutenant Margherita Magnani.


The agenda, spanning from strategic planning to decision files voting, covered crucial aspects of CISM's operations and future projects. Notable items included the approval of the Strategic Plan 2024-2028, guidelines for the Board of Directors and General Assembly, and the candidacy of Sri Lanka to host the 80th General Assembly and Congress in 2025.

Among the highlights was the election of Major Kagiso Mandy Motsisi from South Africa as the new President of the Women in CISM Commission, signifying a commitment to promoting gender equality and inclusion within the organization.


In a moment of celebration, Private Nina Christen from Switzerland, excelling in shooting, and Mohamed Reda El Aaraby from Morocco, distinguished in marathon running, were honored by the Board of Directors Members as the female and male CISM Athletes of the Year, respectively, with the intention of officially recognizing and celebrating them at the next General Assembly.


The meeting concluded with a closing address by President Colonel Nilton Rolim, expressing gratitude to the participants for their dedication and emphasizing a forward-looking approach towards CISM's future.


The next milestone for CISM will be the 79th General Assembly & Congress scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from May 12 to May 19, 2024.


The deliberations and decisions made during these two days of intense discussions set a solid foundation for CISM's continued growth and excellence in promoting peace through sport on the global stage.
