More than 1500 Fans of the Russian Biathlon Team Gathered in the Stadium “Laura”

KRASNAYA POLYANA / SOCHI (RUS) - The first biathlon competitions are taking place today in the cross-country ski & biathlon center “Laura.” Athletes from 14 countries are participating in the sprint: Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, South Korea, Republic of Macedonia, Bulgaria, Switzerland, France, Russia, Finland, China, Lebanon and Slovenia.

The stands are crowded: the CSKA fans as well as guests from other countries are actively waving flags and making noise with “knocking sticks.” While the animation team and the three Games mascots — Leopard, Little Fox and Hare — entertain the crowd and “get going” the spectators, the people in the stands are sharing their impressions.

“We were taking rest with the parents on Krasnaya Polyana, and I learned from the social networks that the Winter Military World Games were taking place. We decided to climb the “Laura” and cheer for the Russian national team. The atmosphere is very nice here, a lot of people of different ages,” shares a young fan Nastya from Moscow.

“I read about the Games on the Internet and came specifically to cheer for CSKA,” said Mikhail from St. Petersburg. “Our athletes are the strongest ones. I’m here because cheering for the Russian national team is a real pleasure.”

“We came specially from Kaliningrad to cheer for CSKA and Russian athletes,” said Nikolai and Tatyana. "The Military Games were talked a lot about on TV, and we decided it would be a good reason to go to Sochi".

The men’s team has been composed of the world champion 2017 Maksim Tsvetkov as well as Sergei Klyachin, Matvei Eliseev, Eduard Latypov and Aleksei Kornev. Anastasiya Evsyunina will start up the women’s race. The World Championship 2017 medal winner Tatyana Akimova, Anastasiya Zagoruiko, Galina Nechkasova and Ulyana Kaisheva will also perform for the national team.

If you want to join the fans, get to the cross-country ski & biathlon center “Laura” by the transfer from the winter sports palace “Iceberg”, as well as by VSKD “Priyut Psekhako” from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm every hour or according to actual load, or independently to Krasnaya Polyana station by taxi, regular buses, deluxe train “Lastochka” or by a shuttle if it is provided by reservation conditions of your hotel. Next, you need to climb up to the center “Laura” on the funicular.
