19th WMC Volleyball Women & 36th WMC Volleyball Men – Edmonton (CAN) – Day 4

 

 

EDMONTON (CAN) – The last qualification games of the 19th WMC Volleyball Women & 36th WMC Volleyball Men were held yesterday, October 30, in Edmonton (CAN) and we now know the teams featuring in the semi-finals.

 

  • Men’s Competition

In the Pool A, China and Korea were leading the ranking before the last game and were already qualified. China confirmed its first place as they defeated the host country Canada in three straight sets (25/13, 25/6, 25/14). In the other game, there was no surprise as the Netherlands were beaten for the third time a row by Korea (11/25, 15/25, 12/25).

 

 

Ranking Pool A:

1.      China - 8 points

2.      Korea - 7 points

3.      Canada - 3 points

4.      The Netherlands - 0 points

 

 

In the pool B, Germany and Brazil were facing for the first place of the group. And the Brazilians confirmed their status of favourite with a 3-0 win against their German opponents (25/23, 25/19, 25/20) after a very high-level game. In the other game, France took the third place of the pool B thanks to its victory against USA 3/0 (25/23, 29/27, 25/20).

Ranking Pool B:

1.      Brazil - 9 points

2.      Germany - 6 points

3.      France - 3 points

4.      USA - 0 points

 

 

  • Women’s competition

The Brazilian female team won its third game in a row against Canada 3/0 (25/13, 25/6, 25/14). With this result, Brazil took the first place of the Pool A just ahead of Germany, who defeated Kenya in the last game of qualification (3-0, 25/15, 25/19, 25/17).

Ranking Pool A:

1.      Brazil - 9 points

2.      Germany - 6 points

3.      Canada - 3 points

4.      Kenya - 0 points

 

 

Finally in the Pool B, the Chinese team managed to defeat USA in three sets (25/18, 25/18, 25/15) and to qualify for the semi-finals together with France which took advantage of USA defeat!

Ranking Pool B:

1.      China - 6 points

2.      France - 2 points

3.      USA - 1 points

Men’s competition (classification games)

  • 3rd Pool A - 4th Pool B (Semi 1): CANADA – UNITED STATES

  • 3rd Pool B - 4th Pool A (Semi 2): FRANCE – NETHERLANDS

Women’s competition (classification games)

  • 4th Pool A - 3rd Pool B: KENYA – UNITED STATES

Men’s competition (semi-finals)

  • 1st Pool A - 2nd Pool B (Semi 3): CHINA – GERMANY

  • 1st Pool B - 2nd Pool A (Semi 4): BRAZIL – KOREA

Women’s competition (semi-finals)

  • 1st Pool A - 2nd Pool B: BRAZIL - FRANCE

  • 2nd Pool A - 1st Pool B: GERMANY – CHINA
