45th WMC Modern Pentathlon – Drzonków (POL) – Update – Day 2

DRZONKÓW (POL) – After that opening ceremony that took place on September 12, the 45th WMC Modern Pentathlon went on yesterday with the qualification round for the 43 male athletes.

With only 36 places available for the final, the 43 participating male athletes, divided in two groups, had to give everything yesterday on the three qualifying events: the fencing event (Ranking Round in one decisive hit judge), the swimming event (individual freestyle 200m) and the Laser-Run event (Running and Shooting – 4 laps of 800m and 4x5 targets down with a time limit of 50’’).

And it is no surprise to see that the three favorites Yasser Hefny (EGY), Sherif Rashad (EGY) and Valentin Belaud (FRA), who were on the podium of the 44th WMC Modern Pentathlon in Warendorf last year, easily qualified for the final. We look forward to attend the men’s final which will see some of the top level athletes compete for the gold medal!

Men's Qualifications Results: Group A - Group B

The women’s final will start today, September 14.
