1st WMC Archery – Teheran (IRI) - Day 4

 

A first successful edition of the WMC Archery!

 

 

TEHERAN (IRI) – The 1st WMC Archery came to an end on November 15 with the final of the 8 different events held in Teheran, Islamic Republic of Iran.

In the individual events, four countries, Russia, Islamic Republic of Iran, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and China won the four titles.

 

 

The compound women individual event gold medal was awarded to Natalia Avdeeva who defeated her teammate Victoria Balzhanova after a balanced game 145/143. The Iranian Raheleh Farsi took bronze against her fellow citizen Seyedeh Vida Halimian.

 

 

Un Ju Kang won the sole DPRK gold medal with her victory in the recurve women individual event against the Russian Inna Stepanova. The Ukrainian Veronika Marchenko finished on the third step of the podium as she defeated the Russian Victoria Budaeva.

 

 

The Chinese Kaiyao Qi defeated another DPRK’s athlete in the final of the Recurve men individual event while the Russian Vitalii Popov grabbed the bronze medal.

 

 

In the compound men individual event, two Iranians, Nima Mahboobi Matboue and Mohammad Saleh Palizban, fought for the gold medal and Nima Mahboobi Matboue showed out to be the strongest with a 146/143 victory. The Russian Anton Buleav defeated his teammate Alexandr Dambaev in the bronze medal game of the event.

 

 

In the team events, the host country Iran won two out of the four events. The male and female Iranian teams won the compound events. Congratulations to Sahar Ghaderi, Seyedeh Vida Halimian and Raheleh Farsi who defeated the Russian Natalia Avdeeva, Victoria Balzhanova and Diana Tontoeva in the compound women’s team event. The second Iranian team took bronze.

 

 

In the compound men’s team event, Esmaeil Ebadi, Nima Mahboobi Matbour and Mohammad Saleh Palizban became the new military world champion after their victory against Russian (Anton Bulaev, Victor Kalashinkov and Alexandr Dambaev) while the Sri Lanka team composd of Sanjeewa Wasantha, Nandana Gunarathne and Nuwan Jayathilake was ranked third.

 

 

Russia (Viktoriia Budaeva, Elena Osipova and Inna Stepanova) defeated DPRK (Kang, Ri and Choe) in the recurve women’s team event. Iran won its last medal of the event with the third place of Ghassemi, Shojamehr and Alipoor.

 

 

The last title of the competition was won by the Chinese team (Qi, Meng and Weng) with a first place in the recurve men’s team event ahead of Russia (Makhnenko, Popov and Kozhin) while DRPK (Pak, Kim and Ri) took bronze.

 

 

 

On November 15, the delegations attended the Closing Ceremony of the event which was held in presence of Brigadier-General Merh Ali Barancheshmesh, Vice-President Asia, Member of the CISM Board of Directors and Official CISM Representative of the event; Dr. Farhad Nafarzadeh, Chief of Delegation of the Islamic Republic Iran to CISM; Habibollah Sayyari, Coordinating Deputy of Islamic Republic of Iran Army; Gholamreza Shabani Bahar, Chief of the Iranian Archery as well as local and international high authorities and fans.

The CISM Flag was handed over to the Chinese delegation which will organize the next edition of the WMC Archery in the framework of the 7th CISM World Summer Games.
