TEHRAN (IRI) – The 4th CISM World Military Archery Championship, hosted by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the auspices of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), began in an atmosphere filled with energy, precision, and camaraderie at the Equestrian and Archery Complex of the Army Ground Forces in Tehran. The event brought together 51 military athletes, including 33 men, 13 women, and 5 para-athletes, from five countries: Iran, Tunisia, Turkey, Nigeria, and Russia.
The first day of the competition opened with remarkable performances and technical mastery as elite military archers competed in the Recurve and Compound disciplines. Olympians and internationally decorated archers representing Iran, Turkey, and Russia elevated the competitive level, inspiring all participants. The Iranian and Turkish men’s recurve teams demonstrated exceptional coordination and advanced to the finals, while the Tunisian mixed recurve team achieved a memorable victory over Russia to secure its place in the final, confirming Tunisia’s growing reputation in world military archery. The day concluded with mutual respect and friendship among athletes, coaches, and officials, perfectly reflecting the CISM motto “Friendship through Sport.”

The second day unfolded with continued intensity and high-level competition in both the Recurve and Compound categories, alongside the Para Archery events that showcased extraordinary courage, discipline, and resilience. To promote unity and peace through sport, the Host Organizing Committee introduced a special International Mixed Team Event. Though unofficial and not included in the medal tally, this friendly initiative became one of the most inspiring moments of the championship, uniting archers from different nations to compete side by side.
In the mixed recurve category, Russia and Tunisia secured first place, followed by two Iranian teams, while Tunisia with Russia and Turkey with Iran shared third place. In the mixed compound event, Russia prevailed again in first place ahead of Iran, while Iran with Russia and Turkey with Iran shared the third step of the podium.

The Para Archery competition highlighted the determination of all athletes. Iran won the para compound team and para compound individual categories, while Russia triumphed in the para recurve individual event. In the para recurve team event, Iran took first place, followed by Russia.
One of the most emotional moments of the day came when a Tunisian recurve archer defeated a strong Russian opponent to reach the individual recurve final, igniting the enthusiasm of the entire arena. The elimination rounds also determined the finalists in each category. In the women’s individual recurve, two Russian athletes will compete for gold, while Iran shared third place. In the men’s individual recurve, a Turkish and a Russian archer will contest the final, with Turkey and Russia sharing third place. In the women’s individual compound, Turkey will face Russia for gold, and Iran with Russia share bronze. In the men’s individual compound, Iran will compete against Turkey for gold, with Turkey and Russia sharing bronze.

The first two days of the 4th CISM World Military Archery Championship have been marked by outstanding performances, friendship, and solidarity among nations. As the competition moves toward its final day, the athletes continue to embody the values of peace, discipline, and unity that define CISM and military sport worldwide.
