BRUSSELS (BEL) - CISM is proud to announce Private Nina Christen of Switzerland and Warrant Officer Mohamed Reda El Aaraby of Morocco as the recipients of the prestigious CISM Athlete of the Year Award for 2023. This recognition celebrates their exceptional achievements and contributions to military sports.

 

Private Nina Christen has established herself as a dominant force in the world of shooting, showcasing her unparalleled skills at the 54th World Military Shooting Championship 2023 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Christen's remarkable performance included clinching 1st place in the Women's Individual 50m Rifle 3 Positions event with a CISM World Record score of 593, leading her team to victory in the same event, and securing top positions in various other categories. Her achievements extend beyond military competitions, having claimed 1st place in the Women's Individual 3 Positions Rifle Event at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games. Christen's dedication to exceeding her own limits and fostering camaraderie through the CISM platform exemplifies the spirit of military sports and its role in promoting peace and social change.

Warrant Officer Mohamed Reda El Aaraby has distinguished himself in track and field, particularly in marathon running. His outstanding performance at the 1st World Military Half Marathon Championship 2023 in Lucerne, Switzerland, where he won the individual men's category and led his team to victory, highlights his exceptional talent and dedication. El Aaraby's achievements on the international stage, including notable placements at the Houston International Half Marathon, the New York City Marathon, and his participation in World Athletics Championships, underscore his prowess and commitment to excellence.
