MOSCOW (RUS) - The final composition of the Russian national team that will compete in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan) includes 335 athletes, including 109 athletes from the Central Sports Club of the Army and 50 athletes from Russian military personnel.
All the CSKA athletes are successful military athletes who defend the honour of the country and the Russian army in all international civilian championships and CISM championships.
Among the participants of the Tokyo Olympic Games are 22 military athletes of CSKA recently titled at the 7th CISM Military World Summer Games held in October 2019 in Wuhan, China.
Among them are the participations of the following athletes: Captain Maria Lasitskene (athletics), Captain Sergei Shubenkov (athletics), Captain Sophia Velikaya (fencing), Captain Inna Deriglazova (fencing), Captain Kamil Ibragimov (fencing), Lieutenant Alan Khubetsov (judo), Lieutenant Timur Safin (fencing), Lieutenant Arthur Naifonov (freestyle wrestling), Lieutenant Musa Evloev (Greco-Roman wrestling), Lieutenant Ilya Ivanyuk (athletics), Lieutenant Vladislav Grinev (swimming) Lieutenant Anton Chupkov (swimming), Lieutenant Leonid Ekimov (shooting sports), Lieutenant Yulia Zykova (shooting sports), Lieutenant Yulia Karimova (shooting sports), Lieutenant Adelina Zagidullina (fencing), Warrant Officer Gadzhimurad Rashidov (freestyle wrestling), Warrant Officer Mikhail Igolnikov (judo), Warrant Officer Alexander Lifanov (modern pentathlon), Warrant Officer Igor Polyanskiy (triathlon), Sergeant Konstantin Lokhanov (fencing), Sergeant Olga Nikitina (fencing)
In total, 109 CSKA athletes were included in the final entry of the Russian national team. CSKA athletes represent 33.1% of the total Russian team in Tokyo.
At the Opening Ceremony on 23 July, the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee will be carried by Olympic Champions, double Olympic silver medallist, winner of the 7th CISM Summer Military World Games, multiple world and European champion, multiple winner of World Cup stages, Captains Sofya Velikaya (fencing) and Maxim Mikhailov (volleyball).
The first medals of the Olympic Games will be awarded on 24 July.
