GEORGETOWN (GUY) - From February 5th to 9th, 2024, the city of Georgetown, Guyana, played host to the CISM Americas Continental Meeting 2024-1. The event, spearheaded by CISM Americas Vice President, Brigadier General Delio Buenaventura Cólon Rosario, in collaboration with the Guyanese Delegation led by Captain Vernon Burnett, provided a platform for delegates from Barbados, Brazil, Canada, the USA, and the Dominican Republic to convene.

This gathering served as an invaluable opportunity to exchange insights on sporting and social initiatives within each participating nation, address matters concerning parasports, discuss the involvement of women in CISM, and outline future endeavors for the Americas within CISM.

As a relatively new member since 2019, Guyana capitalized on the occasion to acquaint its authorities with the workings of CISM. Additionally, the event coincided with Guyana's celebration of the International Day of Military Sports and CISM's anniversary. Festivities included a commemorative run at the National Park, featuring the participation of numerous military personnel from Guyana. Furthermore, a series of cultural activities showcased the vibrant essence of Guyana to all attendees, further enhancing its visibility on the global stage.
