BRUSSELS (BEL) – The International Military Sports Council (CISM) and the European Fair Play Movement (EFPM) officially strengthened their cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a strategic partnership dedicated to promoting Fair Play, ethical values and mutual understanding through sport. The European Fair Play Movement, a leading European organization, promotes Fair Play principles across sport, education and society.
The official Signing Ceremony took place yesterday, 13 May 2026, at the CISM Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, in the presence of Colonel Nilton Rolim, CISM President, Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, CISM Secretary General, and Philippe Housiaux, President of the European Fair Play Movement and former Olympian.
This cooperation brings together two major organizations sharing a common vision: using sport as a powerful tool for peace, education, inclusion and respect. Through this agreement, both organizations commit to developing joint initiatives, seminars and events promoting Fair Play and tolerance, strengthening cooperation through shared communication and visibility actions, encouraging exchanges of knowledge, publications and best practices, supporting awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of ethical values in sport, and establishing a joint action plan for future cooperation.

This partnership reflects a shared ambition to reinforce the role of sport as a driver of peace, social cohesion and human development, fully aligned with Olympic values and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. When “Friendship through Sport” meets the “Spirit of Sport,” a stronger and more ethical future for sport begins.
