CAIRO (EGY) – The 25th World Military Equestrian Championship took place from May 5 to 8, 2025, at the Kayan Equestrian Club in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital. Organized under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the championship gathered 57 elite military riders from 19 countries and one observer nation, competing in show jumping events on borrowed horses—a unique challenge that defines military equestrian sport within the CISM framework.
The opening ceremony, held in the presence of President El-Sisi, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and senior officials, featured a vibrant celebration of Egyptian heritage. A captivating drone and theatrical light show illuminated symbols of ancient Egyptian civilization. CISM President Colonel Nilton Rolim awarded President El-Sisi the CISM Order of Merit and conferred upon him honorary CISM membership in recognition of his support for international military sport. Colonel Rolim, along with CISM Secretary General Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, commended the Egyptian Armed Forces and the organizing committee for their outstanding hospitality and commitment to excellence.

Filippo Martini Di Cigala finished just one point behind to claim the silver medal, while the bronze went to UAE’s 1st Lieutenant Saeed Mohamed Almaazmi, who delivered a flawless final round with the fastest time in the jump-off. The final day also saw strong performances from Russia’s WO Anastasiia Shcherbakova and Egypt’s Cadet Ismaiel Mohamed Elboraie, whose contributions helped elevate Egypt’s team standing.
In the team competition, Italy confirmed its dominance in military equestrian sport by winning its third consecutive team gold medal with a total of 405 points. Host nation Egypt achieved a historic milestone by securing the silver medal with 388 points, marking its best result in the event’s history. Qatar completed the team podium with a strong performance and 370 points. As the competition concluded, Colonel Nilton Rolim praised the professionalism, unity, and hospitality that defined the event. He emphasized that the championship was more than a competition; it was a celebration of shared values and military friendship. The declaration of the Kayan Equestrian Club as an international training hub further underscored Egypt’s rising prominence in global military sports.
