BRUSSELS (BEL) – The International Military Sports Council (CISM) is pleased to announce the first official equestrian training course organized under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Egyptian Armed Forces Sports Agency.

This cooperation agreement formally accredited the Kayan Equestrian Club, located in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, as official CISM Equestrian Sports Development Center (ESDC). The establishment of this center marks a major milestone in the international development of military equestrian sports and reinforces Egypt’s role as a strategic hub for training and education within the CISM equestrian community.

As the first concrete outcome of this partnership, the inaugural CISM equestrian course will take place from 19 to 25 May 2026 and will focus on the theme “Equine Behavior.” The course will combine theoretical and practical components, providing participants with essential knowledge on horse behavior, handling, communication, and welfare, all of which are fundamental to safety, performance, and professionalism in military equestrian disciplines.

The newly accredited CISM Equestrian Sports Development Center is designed to serve as a center of excellence for training, education, and competition. It will offer CISM Member Nations access to high-level workshops, technical courses, and equestrian events, while fostering knowledge exchange, professional development, and international cooperation among military riders, coaches, and officials.

This initiative, endorsed earlier this year by the CISM Board of Directors, reflects the shared commitment of CISM and the Egyptian Armed Forces Sports Agency to preserving the heritage of equestrian disciplines within the military environment, while adapting them to modern training standards and strengthening collaboration across nations.

An official invitation file for the “Equine Behavior” course will be circulated to all CISM Member Nations in due course, providing detailed information on participation conditions, course content, and logistical arrangements.

With the launch of this first course, CISM and its Egyptian partners take an important step toward positioning Egypt as a key reference point for the development, education, and promotion of military equestrian sports within the global CISM family.
