CAIRO (EGY) – The 25th edition of the World Military Equestrian Championship galloped into action in Cairo, Egypt, with an exhilarating first day of competition that brought together 57 elite military riders from 19 countries and one observer country. Hosted at the prestigious Kayan Equestrian Club, the event opened with a powerful display of skill, courage, and international camaraderie that set the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable championship.

The individual jumping event on day one saw Bahrain’s CW Sami Mohammed deliver a standout performance, finishing with 58 points to take the early lead. He was closely followed by Romania’s L. Cpl. Stoica Stefania Alina, who claimed second place with 56 points, and Oman’s Sgt. Madian Said Hamad Alyusfi, who earned 55 points. Brazil’s Maj. Estevao Grossi Aguiar da Silva and UAE’s 1st Lt. In the team rankings after day one, Brazil took the early lead with a commanding total of 141 points, followed by Romania with 135 and Qatar with 130. Italy and Bahrain rounded out the top five, while host nation Egypt delivered a promising performance to place eighth with 90 points, thanks to strong rides from Lt. Col. Shady Ashraf Hasan and Cadet Ismaiel Mohamed Elboraie, whose efforts were met with enthusiastic support from the home crowd.

The excitement continued into day two, which featured a technically demanding accumulator course designed by the renowned Michel Ismalun. Known for crafting tracks that reward precision and strategy, Ismalun’s layout pushed the riders to their limits. Competing once again on unfamiliar horses, the 56 athletes demonstrated remarkable instinct and composure under pressure. The standings saw significant shifts by the end of the second day.
