Top-Level participation confirmed for 60th CISM World Military Cross Country Championship in Trikala

 

 

TRIKALA (GRE) – The arrival of national delegations began today, as athletes from 39 CISM Member Nations reached Greece to take part in the 60th CISM World Military Cross Country Championship.

 

The Championship will be held on Sunday, 1 March 2026, at the Skamnies Sports Center, in the Municipality of Pyli, Trikala.

 

A number of internationally renowned athletes are set to headline the competition, underlining the high sporting level of this edition. Among them is Private Winfred Yavi (Bahrain), the second-fastest woman in history in the 3000m steeplechase (8:44.39), Olympic Champion (2024) with a new Olympic record, and World Champion (2023).

 

 

Also competing is Corporal Mekdes Woldu (France), a Tokyo 2020 Olympian, French national record holder in the 10,000m, and a key member of the French national long-distance team.

 

Representing Poland are Sergeant Sofia Ennaoui, silver medallist in the 1500m at the 2018 European Championships and World Championship finalist, and Sergeant Michał Rozmys, European silver medallist in the 1500m (2022) and finalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, alongside many other distinguished military athletes from across the world.

 

The 60th CISM World Military Cross Country Championship is co-organized by the Secretariat of the Hellenic Supreme Council for Armed Forces Sports, through the Hellenic CISM Delegation, in cooperation with the Region of Thessaly, the Municipality of Pyli (Trikala), and the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS).
