BRUSSELS (BEL) - The International Military Sports Council (CISM) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Arab Republic of Egypt for a two-day official visit to its Headquarters in Brussels.

The Egyptian delegation was led by Major General Staff Officer Dr. Mohamed Azazy Abdelaziz Farag Elassal, Chief of the Egyptian Delegation to CISM and Head of the Armed Forces Sports Agency, accompanied by Brigadier Amr Mohamed Salah Eldin Ahmed Darweish, member of the Egyptian Delegation and of the CISM Sports Committee for Swimming, and Colonel Mohamed Nabil, Defense Attaché of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Kingdom of Belgium.

On 10 November, the delegation was officially received by CISM Secretary General, Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, for an in-depth meeting that focused on strengthening cooperation between CISM and the Egyptian Armed Forces Sports Agency. The discussions highlighted Egypt’s growing role within CISM, the exchange of expertise in sports development, and future opportunities for collaboration across multiple disciplines. Both sides presented their current activities and shared perspectives on how to further enhance CISM’s mission of Friendship through Sport.

The following day, 11 November, the delegation was joined by CISM President Colonel Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho for the official signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CISM and the Egyptian Armed Forces Sports Agency. The agreement formalizes the accreditation of the Kayan Equestrian Club, located in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, as an official CISM Equestrian Sports Development Center (ESDC).

The establishment of the CISM Equestrian Sports Development Center marks an important milestone in promoting and developing military equestrian sports at the international level. The new center will serve as a hub for training, education, and competition, providing opportunities for CISM Member Nations to participate in workshops, technical courses, and equestrian events hosted in Egypt.

This initiative, endorsed by the CISM Board of Directors earlier this year, reflects the shared commitment of both parties to preserving the heritage of equestrian disciplines within the military community while fostering international cooperation and knowledge exchange.

CISM expressed its sincere appreciation to the Egyptian Armed Forces for their leadership and dedication to advancing equestrian sports and reaffirmed its full support for the success of the new CISM Equestrian Sports Development Center.
