Tanzanian Delegation pays official visit to CISM Headquarters

BRUSSELS (BEL) – On Thursday, July 17, 2025, the International Military Sports Council (CISM) had the honor of hosting an official visit by a distinguished delegation from the United Republic of Tanzania at its Headquarters in Brussels. This visit reflected Tanzania’s steadfast commitment to fostering international military cooperation through sport and reaffirmed its active participation within the CISM community.

 

The Tanzanian delegation was composed of Colonel John Nyanchoha, Commandant of the School of Physical Training and Sports (SPT&S), Colonel David Luoga, Director of Physical Training, Sports and Culture (DPTS&C), and Major Mohamed Kasui, Staff Officer for Physical Training and Sports (SO-PT&S). They were accompanied by Mr. Erick Kivuyo, Financial Attaché, and Mr. Michael Joe, Communication Officer, both from the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Brussels.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by CISM Secretary General, Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, who was accompanied by Ms. Florentia Sfakianou, CISM Protocol and Liaison Advisor. Together, they engaged in constructive discussions covering various topics, including the development of military sports in Tanzania, the nation’s future involvement in CISM competitions, and prospects for enhanced cooperation in training, knowledge exchange, and regional sports development.

Following the meeting, the delegation toured the CISM Headquarters and received a presentation on the organization’s mission, structure, and current strategic initiatives aimed at promoting peace and solidarity through sport.

 

CISM extends its sincere appreciation to the Tanzanian Armed Forces and the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania for this meaningful visit and looks forward to deepening its partnership with Tanzania in the framework of international military sports.
