TASHKENT (UZB) - The 42nd World Military Judo Championship, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, concluded on October 18 after an action-packed week of competition. Athletes from across the globe showcased exceptional skill and determination, with Uzbekistan and Mongolia emerging as the top performers.
Uzbekistan dominated the women’s team event, claiming gold on home soil after a series of victories, including a win over Russia in the semifinals. France secured second place, while Italy and Mongolia shared third. In the men’s team competition, Mongolia triumphed, defeating Uzbekistan in a thrilling final, with Iran and Kazakhstan finishing in third.
The individual competitions saw remarkable performances across both men’s and women’s categories. Notable victories included Uzbekistan’s Skakhram Akhadov in the -73kg men’s category and Gulkhayo Juraeva in the -52kg women’s category. Mongolia’s Ganbaatar Narantsetseg claimed gold in the women’s -48kg event, and Lkhagvasuren Sosorbaram won the -57kg category in an all-Mongolian final.
In the overall medal standings, Uzbekistan topped the table with 13 medals, followed by Mongolia with 8, and France with 8 as well. The championship was celebrated for its excellent organization and the warm hospitality extended by Uzbekistan, leaving participants with unforgettable memories and a strong sense of camaraderie.
The event wrapped up with a festive Awarding and Closing Ceremony, marking a successful conclusion to a memorable week of high-level judo competition.
