Chinese, Italian and Russian Armies representatives win more Olympic titles in Tokyo - Day 6

TOKYO (FRA) - After a first silver medal in the 100m Butterfly Women's Swimming, China's Yufei Zhang finally managed to win the Olympic grail in the 200m Butterfly Women's final by more than a second and a half ahead of the Americans Smith and Flickinger, setting a new Olympic record of 2:03.86 in the process.

Later in the day, the same Yufei Zhang won the 4x200m Freestyle Swimming event for the second time at the Games with her military compatriot Junxuan Yang and teammates Tang and Li, ahead of the USA and Australia.

In Rowing, Italy's Valentina Rodini and teammate Cesarini beat France and the Netherlands in the Lightweight Women's Double Sculls final to claim the first Olympic gold medal of her career.

Two other CISM regulars, Captain Inna Deriglazova and Lieutenant Adelina Zagidullina, along with teammates Korobeynikova and Martyanova, helped the Russian team win the Women's Team Foil Fencing competition in a tight final against the French team, which included Private Ysaora Thibus and Private 1st Class Pauline Ranvier, who finally won silver. The Italian Corporals Arianna Errigo and Martina Batini failed on the third step of the podium of the same competition.

  • Warrant Officer Anastasiia Guzhenkova (RUS - Women’s 4x200m Freestyle – Swimming)

  • Corporal Silvana Maria Stanco (ITA - Trap Women Individual – Shooting)

 

7th place :

  • David Popovici (ROU - Men’s 100m Freestyle – Swimming)

  • Lieutenant Aleksandra Babintseva (RUS - Women’s -78kg – Judo)

  • Sergeant Kata Kondricz (HUN - Women’s Team Foil – Fencing)


8th place :

  • 3rd Sergeant Guilherme Pereira da Costa (BRA - 800m Men’s Freestyle – Swimming)

  • Maréchal des Logis Charlotte Bonnet (FRA - Women’s 4x200m Freestyle – Swimming)
