Colonel Hervé Piccirillo will run for another term as CISM President

LANZAROTE (ESP) - Colonel Hervé Piccirillo, CISM President, announced during his opening speech at the CISM Board of Directors Meeting that he is a candidate for re-election at the 77th CISM General Assembly & Congress to be held in 2022.

The former FIFA international football referee and current Commander of the National Defence Sports Centre, made his candidacy official to his fellow Board members during a meeting organised within the framework of the 76th CISM General Assembly & Congress in Lanzarote (Spain): "As you know, 2022 will be an important year for CISM with the election of the CISM President and Secretary General. Therefore, I would like to inform you of the intention of the Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces to support me for a second mandate for the period 2022/2026. "

There are several reasons why Colonel Hervé Piccirillo has decided to run for his succession:

"First of all, this desire is in line with the French government's policy to support international sport by organising the next Summer Olympic Games in France in 2024. For its future, CISM also needs continuity in its strategy and stability in its governance, particularly with the management of the post-pandemic crisis, which remains a serious challenge for many countries that will be facing financial difficulties. Finally, I am convinced that over the last 3 years we have been able to create a climate of trust and respect between the vice-presidents, the board members and the member countries, which has enabled us to implement our common strategy. "

CISM's 140 Member Nations will meet next year at the 77th CISM General Assembly & Congress in Lima, Peru, to decide on the next CISM President (2022/2026).
