Italian military athletes achieve impressive results at the European Athletics Indoor Championships

ISTANBUL (TUR) - Members of the Italian Armed Forces achieved impressive results at the European Athletics Indoor Championships held from March 2 to 5, 2023, winning no less than four medals.

In shot put, Zane Weir from "Guardia di Finanza" became European champion, setting a new national record of 22.06m!

The long jumper Larissa Iapichino from "Guardia di Finanza" took the silver medal with a new national record of 6,97 m in the long jump competition.

Dariya Derkach from "Airforce" offered the Italian armed forces a new silver medal in the triple jump competition with a performance of 14.20 m.

And finally it was Alice Mangione (Army), Eleonora Marchiando (Carabinieri) and Anna Pollinari ("Carabinieri") who won the last silver medal by taking the second place in the women's 4 x 400 m relay with a new national record (3:28:61).
