Morocco celebrates International Day of Military Sports 2026 with nationwide participation
RABAT (MAR) - On 16 February 2026, the Kingdom of Morocco proudly celebrated the International Day of Military Sports, marking the 78th anniversary of the International Military Sports Council (CISM). Held in accordance with the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, this nationwide initiative once again highlighted Morocco’s strong commitment to the values of military sport.
Across all “Places d’Armes” throughout the country, the day was dedicated to promoting physical activity, cohesion, and the spirit of camaraderie within the armed forces. The scale of participation was particularly remarkable, with more than 62,000 military personnel of all ranks taking part in a wide range of sporting activities organized simultaneously across the Kingdom.
A total of 168 military units were mobilized across 21 garrisons, reflecting a coordinated and comprehensive national effort. The event was conducted exclusively within the military framework, with no civilian participation and no involvement of national sports federations, further emphasizing the internal cohesion and operational engagement of the Royal Armed Forces.
This large-scale mobilization reflects not only the importance given to sport within the Royal Armed Forces, but also Morocco’s enduring support for the CISM mission of fostering friendship, solidarity, and peace through military sport. By bringing together tens of thousands of participants, the celebration served as a powerful demonstration of unity, discipline, and collective engagement.
Through this initiative, Morocco once again reaffirmed its active role within the CISM community and its dedication to promoting the fundamental values that unite armed forces worldwide. The International Day of Military Sports continues to stand as a meaningful occasion to strengthen bonds, encourage healthy lifestyles, and celebrate the unifying power of sport across all nations.
