77th CISM General Assembly and Congress – Lima (PER) – Day 5

LIMA (PER) – The second day of the Congress of the 77th CISM General Assembly & Congress took place on May 6 in Lima, Peru.

After the traditional welcome address of the CISM President Brigadier-General Hervé Piccirillo, the presentations continued with the CISM Global Sports Policy and the following reports : contribution of the CISM Sports Commission to the overall CISM Sports Policy by Lieutenant-Colonel Walter Borghino, presentation of the CISM Calendars of activities 2022-2025, presentation of the host nations and introduction of the Presidents of the CISM Sports Committees by Lieutenant-Colonel Jan Van den Dool, report by the PCSC Representative on the contribution of the PCSC to the overall CISM Sports Policy by Colonel Nilton Gomes Filho Rolim, contribution of the CISM Academy to the overall CISM Sprots policy by Lieutenant-Colonel Jan Van den Dool, presentation of the CISM International Symposium 2023 by Colonel Lotfi Bouguerra and promotion of the integration of para-athletes in the overall CISM Sports policy by Lieutenant-Colonel Jan Van den Dool.

During the first coffee break, a speed dating event was organized by the Sports Department to allow PCSCs to meet delegates from our member countries and discuss the possibility of organizing CISM sports events.

The Iranian Delegation to CISM then took the floor to present several topics: a report on the organization of the 35th World Military Wrestling Championship in 2021, a presentation of the programs related to the organization of the 26th World Military Taekwondo Championship, CISM's development programs within Asia and a new initiative "Climbing for Peace".

The 2019 and 2021 Athlete of the Year trophies were then awarded to the following military athletes: Sergeant Ellen Braga (Volleyball - Brazil), Female Athlete of the Year 2019; Corporal Chef Pierre Le Corre (Triathlon - France), Male Athlete of the Year 2019; Sergeant Vlada Krivenko (Parachuting - Russia), Female Athlete of the Year 2021; and Captain Eduardo Carrillo Martínez-Osorio (Aeronautical Pentathlon - Spain), Male Athlete of the Year 2021!

CISM delegates then attended several presentations by the Organizing Committees of the following events : the 3rd CISM World Cadet Games 2022 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, the 5th CISM World Winter Games 2025 in Lucerne, Switzerland as well as the 1st CISM World Solidarity Gales to be hosted by the French Delegation in 2023.

Colonel Joseph Bakari, the CISM World Games Director, presented an update on the CISM World Games, the situation of the 8th CISM World Summer Games 2023, a report on the CISM Solidarity Actions and a report on the organization of Military World Games and participation in Military Sports (CISM Activities).

The second and last session of the Congress ended with a general presentation of the Directors of the General Secretariat who introduced the members and the main tasks of each department and the Closing address of the CISM President who officially closed the CISM Congress 2022.

Tomorrow promises to be a very interesting day with a condensed program for our delegates : the CISM General Assembly with the voting of the Decision Files and the Elections for the functions of CISM President, CISM Secretary General and CISM Treasurer General, the Closing Ceremony of the event, the second session of the BoD Meeting, the Gift Exchange and finally, the Gala Dinner.
