Board of Directors Meeting 2021-3 - Ancient Olympia (GRE) - Day 2

ANCIENT OLYMPIA (GRE) - The third session of the Board of Directors Meeting 2021-3 took place today in Ancient Olympia and started with the presentation of Colonel Joseph Bakari, CISM World Games Director, who presented an analysis of the current situation regarding the various upcoming CISM sports events.

He was followed by a presentation of Mr. David Vandenplas, CISM Media & Communication Director and International Federations Coordinator, who updated the audience on the Media and Communication works and the development of the relationships between CISM and the International Federations.

Mr. Maxime Sempo, the new Development & Partnership Director, had the opportunity to introduce himself and present the strategy and next steps of his department.

The PCSC Representative Colonel Nilton Gomes Filho Rolim also took the floor to discuss some of the issues faced by PCSC.

The Board of Directors Meeting ended with the Closing address of the CISM President General Hervé Piccirillo.

After the last session of the BoD Meeting, the Closing Ceremony of the event took place in Presence of the CISM President General Hervé Piccirillo, the CISM Secretary General Colonel Dorah Mamby Koita, the Board of Directors Members in attendance, the CISM Treasurer General Lieutenant-Colonel Marc de Wagter, the Chief of Delegation of Greece to CISM Navy Captain Spyridon Andriopoulos, the members of the CISM General Secretariat and the representatives of the Greek Armed Forces.

General Hervé Piccirillo took the floor to close the event: “It is an honor to close this third Board of Directors Meeting of the year 2021. During these few days, we have rediscovered the taste of freedom, the freedom to move, to meet, to smile. In fact, we just started living together again. It was for us a great relief but also the feeling that we can start believing in a better future again. This statutory event was the symbol of the resumption of the CISM with many members of the BoD here in Olympia and the others participating via VTC. Nothing replaces human contact.”

“I would like to thank the Chief of Greek Delegation to CISM, Navy Captain Spyridon Andriopoulos and his team for the perfect organization. Thanks to you, this meeting took place in the best conditions and helped us to take the best decisions for the good of CISM. Through the cultural visit, we were also able to discover the city of Olympia. This city is open to the world, rich in its history, and carries the universal values of Peace and Solidarity. I would like to thank once again Mr. Georgios Georgiopoulos, Mayor of Ancient Olympia for the hosting.”, added the CISM President.

“By your team spirit and you deeply and constant wish to make CISM a solidary and friendly international sporting organization, you have done valuable and efficient decisions which will also open new ways of reflexion and perspectives. You can be proud of your commitment and your consideration in the founders spirit.”, concluded the CISM President.

The Board of Directors has come to a conclusion but CISM activities continue this week in Greece with the start of the CISM International Symposium in Ancient Olympia. The symposium will be livestreamed from today on the CISM Facebook page and Youtube channel.
