PCSC Meeting 2021-2 - Roma (ITA)

ROMA (ITA) - The second annual meeting of the President of CISM Sport Committee (PCSC) took place in Rome, Italy, from November 8 to 11 in the presence of General Hervé Piccirillo, CISM President; Major-General Dr. Gianni Gola, CISM Honorary President; Colonel Dorah Mamby Koita, CISM Secretary General; Lieutenant-Colonel Walter Borghino, Board of Director Member and President of the CISM Sports Commission; Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, Chief of the Italian Delegation to CISM; Colonel Luiz Fernando, CISM Sports Director, the PCSC’s in attendance and by VTC as well as the members of the CISM General Secretariat.

 

The CISM President General Hervé Piccirillo took the floor to welcome the participants: “I wish to present my sincere thanks to Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, the Chief of Italian Delegation to CISM for organising the last PCSC meeting of the year. Since the CISM creation, Italia has played a major role in its development and its influence worldwide. The Italian Armed Forces joined CISM 72 years ago in 1949. Since then, Italia has always been active with the organization of 2 CISM World Summer Games (1995/ Roma – 2003/ Catania), 1 CISM World Winter Games (2010/ Aosta), 2 General Assemblies (1969, 2006), almost 110th World Military Championships and the participation of Italian teams in more 750 CISM events.”

“I would also like to express my warmest thanks to the sports commission presidents who are leaving us for their individual commitment and the remarkable work performed during their mandates. I would like to remind that military sport is the heart of CISM and the main challenge we have collectively to run during the upcoming years will be the restart of the sporting activities despite of the current sanitary context.”, concluded General Piccirillo.

 

After the Opening speeches, the meeting started with the introduction and Farewell of PCSC and the CISM Staff members.

 

Lieutenant-Colonel Walter Borghino, President of the CISM Sports Commission, started the presentations round with his report on the CISM Sports Policy, followed by the report of the CISM Sports Director Colonel Luiz Fernando.

 

It was then the turn of CISM's Honorary President, Major-General Dr. Gianni Gola, to take the floor and give a presentation on the theme: "Memory, Heritage & Legacy".

Each member of the CISM Sports Department then had the opportunity to make a presentation relating to their area of expertise: Navy Commander Ney Anderson, CSC Manager, on CISM Sports Committees Management; Major Kavgias, World Military Championships Manager, on World Military Championships Management; Major Martinez, Sports Science & Anti-Doping Manager, on Anti-Doping Management Policy; and Lieutenant-Commander Thissera, Results & Statistics and Parasport Manager, on Parasport Management, its Roadmap and Evaluation.

 

The first day of the meeting concluded with a presentation by Lieutenant-Colonel Lars Gerhardsson, President of Orienteering Sport Committee, on the Development of Parasport in Orienteering Committee.

 

The second day of the meeting started with the report on the situation of the MoUs with the International Federations by Mr. David Vandenplas, International Federations Coordinator, followed by the report of the Games Director, Colonel Joseph Bakari, on the situation regarding the 8th CISM World Summer Games and the future, the 4th CISM World Winter Games 2021 in Germany (Inputs and feedback of Pre-visit), the 3rd World Cadet Games 2022 in Russia (Inputs and feedback of Pre-visit) and the CISM Heroes Military Games 2022 in France.

 

Colonel Nilton Rolim, PCSC Representative and PCSC Modern Pentathlon took the floor to present the outcome of BoD Meeting 2021-2 and 2021-3 as well as his participation to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2021 as guest of the IOC.

The last presentations of the day were made by Lieutenant-Colonel Alessandro Trono, PCSC Military Pentathlon and Lieutenant-Colonel Jure Velepec, PCSC Skiing, on their experiences and lessons learned as PCSC.

 

The PCSC Meeting ended with two sessions of discussions on issues concerning the CISM Sports Policy and the Follow-up actions, issues brought by PCSC’s and conclusions (next steps) chaired by Colonel Luiz Fernando, CISM Sports Director, and Colonel Nilton Rolim, PCSC Representative.
