41st WMC Parachuting – Warendorf (GER) – Update – Day 2

 

 

An impressive Russian Team !

WARENDORF / SOEST (GER) – As the first day of competition was cancelled on June 12 due to a windy and rainy weather, the competitions of the 41st CISM World Military Parachuting Championship started yesterday, July 13, in Soest with the Accuracy, Style and Formation Competition.

In the individual style female event, Russia managed to rank 4 athletes in the top 5 as WO Olga Kravchenko (RUS) is leading the provisional ranking after one jump ahead of OR-1 Léocadie Ollivier de Pury (FRA) and WO Olga Lepezina (RUS). The Russian WO Elena Tusheva and WO Elena Laktionova are completing the top five. In the individual accuracy female, Lt. Siwei Liu from China together with WO Lepezina (RUS) secured the first place of the provisional ranking after three rounds while Sgt. Daniela D’Angelo (ITA) and S/C Hanane Ichou (MAR) are currently sharing the second place. Thanks to her good performances in accuracy and style, WO Lepezina took the lead of the individual overall female event. Ranked third overall, OR-1 Ollivier de Pury (FRA) was the sole athlete able to break Russia’s domination as four Russian athletes are in the top 5 (WO Kravchenko (2), WO Tusheva (4) and WO Laktionova (5)).

 

 

In Formation Female, after two rounds, Russia is currently 3 points ahead of France, Belarus and China, who are both sharing the second place. The same Russian team is also leading the team accuracy female provisional ranking with China and Belarus respectively on the second and third place. As expected, Russia took the lead of the nation overall provisional female ranking ahead of Belarus, France, China and Brazil.

In the individual accuracy junior female competition, thanks to two first excellent jumps, Cdt Yang Mei (CHN) is one point ahead of Soldier Kseniaa Fominykh (RUS). CPL Darja Shastakovich (BLR), who won the individual overall junior ranking, last year in Kubinka, is ranked third. Indeed, thanks to her provisional first place in the individual style junior female event, CPL Shastakovich is also leading the individual overall junior female ranking after 4 rounds.

 

 

It was also a good day for China in the men’s events as Cdt Zuolei Zhang is sharing the first place of the individual accuracy male ranking after two jumps together with WO Tamás Varga (HUN) and Ssg Abdulaziz Ahmed (QAT). Cdt Zuolei’s and Ssg Abdulaziz Ahmedperformances also allowed them to lead the individual accuracy junior event while Cpl Sebastien Graser (AUT) is ranked third.

Finally, Italy and China are the provisional leaders of the team accuracy male event ahead of Czech Republic, Germany and Hungary.
