41st WMC Parachuting – Warendorf (GER) – Update – Final Day

 

 

 

Final results and Closing Ceremony

 

WARENDORF / SOEST (GER) – The 41st WMC Parachuting closed yesterday, July 20, in Warendorf, with the last competitions followed by the closing events.

In the morning, Lt Lieu Siwei became the new military world champion in the individual accuracy female event after defeating WO Olga Lepezina in the final and 11th round. WO Elena Tusheva (RUS) did the same against OR-8 Déborah Ferrand (FRA) to grab the bronze medal.

The Russian WO Olga Lepezina was the most regular athlete of the female competition and logically claimed the gold medal of the individual overall female ranking with a 3 points lead on the silver medalist OR-8 Déborah Ferrand while her teammate Elena Tusheva took the bronze medal.

Cpl Darja Shastakovich won the junior female accuracy and style event and won a third gold medal with the first place of the individual overall junior female ranking. Soldier Kseniaa Fominykh (RUS) is ranked second and Cdt Mei Yang third.

After Shastakovich’s victory, Belarus (SSG Nalivaika, WO Nikitsiuk, SSG Famina, SSG Zimina and SSG Kotava) won another gold medal with the title in the team accuracy female competition with a one and two points lead on Russia and China, respectively second and third!

 

 

The Russian team added another gold medal to its collection with the first place of the nation overall female ranking ahead of France and Belarus! As usual, the Russian athletes proved that they belonged to la crème de la crème of the parachutist world.

After three extra jumps, OR-6 Miloslav Kriz (CZE) managed to win the gold medal of the individual accuracy male event as he defeated Russian Lt Dmitrii Maksimov in the final jump. Hungarian WO Tamas Varga consoled himself with the bronze medal after his victory against Cdt Zuolei Zhang (CHN).

 

 

The local athlete OR-7  Elischa Weber, who already won the individual style event, also finished on the first place of the individual overall male ranking for the great satisfaction of the local spectators. Lt Dmitrii Maksimov (RUS) is ranked second while another German athlete, OR-7 Stefan Wiesner, is taking the bronze medal!

In the individual overall junior male ranking, China placed four athletes in the top 4, as 2Lt Tianbo Gao won the title ahead of his teammates 2Lt Shanmao Lu and Cdt Zuolei Zhang, respectively silver and bronze medalist while Cdt Sicheng Zhang was ranked fourth.

 

 

China won another gold medal with the Chinese team’s title in the team accuracy male event. 2Lt Li, 2Lt Lu, 2Lt Gao, Cdt Zhang and Col Liang gave the victory to their country after defeating Russia and Hungary.

Finally, Russia won the last title of the 41st WMC Parachuting with the first place of the nation overall male ranking. The host country Germany grabbed the silver medal, followed by the Czech Republic!

In the afternoon, the competitors came back to the competition site for the awarding ceremony, followed by the Closing Ceremony and Farewell Party in presence of several high authorities: Colonel Dorah Mamby Koita, CISM Secretary General and CISM Official Representative for this 19th WMC; General-Major Andreas Marlow; Lieutenant-Colonel Wolfram Henkies, Head of Organizing Committee & Chief of the German Delegation to CISM; Colonel Gernot Rittenschober, President of the CISM Parachuting Committee.

Thank you Germany for this wonderful organization and see you next year in Szolnok, Hungary, for the 42nd edition of the WMC Parachuting that will take place from 10 to 21 August 2018 !
