51st WMC Shooting (Shotgun) – Gioia del Colle (ITA) - Day 3

 

 

GIOIA DEL COLLE (ITA) – The 51st WMC Shooting (Shotgun) ended On October 11 in Gioia del Colle with the finals, the Awarding and the Closing Ceremony.

In Skeet individual Men, Rashid Hamad, who was ranked third after the first day, managed to win the gold medal after two excellent last rounds. In the final, Hamad defeated the Finnish Oskari Kossi 53 to 52 while Dainis Upelnieks took the third place ahead of the former leader of the competition, the local athlete Elia Sdruccioli.

 

 

In Skeet individual female, the Italian Diana Bacosi also lost the lead of the competition to the benefit of Heng Zhang (CHN) who is the new Military World Champion after defeating the silver medallist Sarah Mohammed (QAT) in the gold medal game (51-46). Diana Bacosi is finally ranked third just ahead the French Lucie Anastassiou.

 

 

In Trap Male, Italia managed to put two athletes on the podium as Massimo Croce won the gold medal of the event against the Qatari Mohaamed Khejaim (44-43) while Massimo Fabbrizi, who was the leader at the end of the first day of competition, took bronze against Karsten Bindrich (33-27).

 

 

In trap female, the Chinese Xiaojing Wang achieved a second perfect day as she scored a 23 and a 24 in the last two rounds. In the gold medal game, she defeated Silvana Stanco (ITA) 41-39. Finally, Katrin Quoss from Germany took the bronze medal of the event ahead of Jinglin Wang from China.

 

 

In the trap male team event, Italia (Fabbrizzi, Croce and Grazini) won a deserved world title in front of their supporters with a total of 347! With 341 points, Qatar (Al Rumahi, Khejaim and Al Hemaidi) finally took the silver medal while China (Xia, Yu and Zhang – 333 points) finished on the third step of the podium.

 

 

There was no surprise to see China (Wang X., Wang J. and Deng) on the top of the trap female team final ranking with 335 points, followed by the local Italian team (Stanco, Cristiani and Ghilarducci – 301 points) and Qatar (Al Abdulla, Al Khalaf and Al Ali – 192 points).

The 51st WMC Shooting (Shotgun) was officially  closed after the competition during an Awarding and Closing Ceremony that was held on the Gioia del Colle Air Base in presence of Major Jan Henrik Back, Official CISM Representative of the event and Member of the BoD - Rear Admiral Bonfiglio, representative of General Staff of Defence - Lieutenant-Colonel Walter Borghino, Member of the BoD, OC Chairman and Chief of the Italian Delegation to CISM - Colonel Bruno Wolfensberger, PCSC Shooting – Mr. Luciano Rossi, President of the Italian Shotgun Federation and Vice-President of the International Shooting Sport Federation - Dr. Postiglione, Chairman of Gioia del Colle Municipality - Umberto Postiglione Special Commissioner of Gioia del Colle town as well as other local and international high authorities, sports master and local fans.

 

 

The CISM Flag was handed over to the Chinese Delegation as the next edition of the WMC Shooting will be held next year in China during the 7th CISM World Summer Games 2019 in Wuhan.
