ELVERUM (NOR) – The second day of the 55th CISM World Military Shooting Championship in Elverum saw elite shooters from around the world deliver outstanding performances across multiple events. France, Norway, Poland, and Latvia all claimed gold as individual brilliance and team coordination were on full display in a packed competition schedule.

Norway’s Jeanette Hegg Duestad once again lit up the range, this time in the Women’s 50m Rifle Prone Individual event. After leading her team to gold on Day 1, Duestad added another title to her name with a score of 624.2, narrowly defeating Austria’s Rebecca Köck (623.3). South Korea’s Bae Sang Hee completed the podium with 620.1 points.

“I just focused on staying calm and consistent,” said Duestad. “To win again here in Norway is really special.”

In the 300m Rifle 3 Positions Men’s Individual event, it was a day for the history books. Poland’s Tomasz Bartnik and Turkey’s Mert Nalbant both reached the elite score of 590, a mark achieved by only a handful of shooters in CISM history. Bartnik took gold due to a higher number of center-tens, with Nalbant earning silver. Gilles Dufaux of Switzerland followed with bronze, scoring 589.

“I’m very pleased with my score,” Bartnik said. “If I remember right, I was the sixth shooter in history to hit it. Now it’s time to aim for one more point.”

France continued its strong showing with a gold medal in the Women’s 25m Pistol Team event. The trio of Mathilde Lamolle, Héloïse Fourre, and Aurélie Girard combined for a winning score of 1731, ahead of Poland and Hungary. Lamolle also shined individually, capturing gold in the Women’s 25m Pistol Individual event with a commanding performance. Her score of 584 kept her just ahead of Poland’s Joanna Tomala, who took silver with 580 points. Bronze went to Hungary’s Veronika Major, who finished with 579.

In the Men’s 25m Pistol Team event, Latvia celebrated a breakthrough moment with gold. Their squad scored a total of 1727 points, maintaining a narrow lead over Ukraine (1722), while Germany took third. Latvian shooter Ernests Erbs, who played a key role in the team’s success, was visibly proud of the achievement.

“Of course it feels amazing,” said Erbs. “It’s an extraordinary feeling. We’ve been training a lot and doing bigger caliber disciplines. We’ve been working hard. I wish the best of luck to everybody else. May the best shooter win.”

The Men’s 25m Pistol Individual event also featured strong performances, with Turkey’s Yusuf Dikeç capturing the gold medal after a tense final, followed by Latvia’s Lauris Strautmanis with silver and Ukraine’s Pavlo Korostylov taking bronze. The tight scores reflected the intensity of the day’s events and the high level of competition on display.
