24th WMC Taekwondo – Rio de Janeiro (BRA) - Day 5

 

 

RIO DE JANEIRO (BRA) – The last day of competition of the 24th WMC Taekwondo took place yesterday in Rio de Janeiro. The Chinese performances were once again very impressive with two new gold medals. The Chinese Chen Wanxia grabbed the gold medal of the women’s -53kg events after defeating the Brazilian Leonor Dias, while Roxana Nothraft (GER) and Erica Nicoli (ITA) both took bronze.

 

 

In the female -57kg, Zhan Tianrui (CHN) brought a new title to the Chinese delegation collection after a final victory against Anisiia Chelokhsaeva (RUS). The German Anna-Lena Fromming was ranked third.

 

 

In the male -63kg event, Simone Crescenzi won the first gold medal of the Italian delegation by beating the Chinese Wang Hairui in the gold medal game of the event. Hamad Al-Mabrouk, from Saudi Arabia and Hadi Valipour, from Iran, stood on the third step of the podium.

 

 

Finally, the Moroccan Khalid Daoudi grabbed the title in the men’s -74kg category ahead of Nikita Kriveichenko (RUS) while Temuujin Purejav (MGL) and Charlles Goltara (BRA) are sharing the bronze medal.

  • Best Female Player - Chen Wanxia (CHN)

  • Best Coach - Mohammadreza Zavar (IRI)
