3rd CISM World Cadet Games 2022 – Saint-Petersburg (RUS) - Opening Ceremony



SAINT-PETERSBURG (RUS) - Colonel General Victor Goremykin, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation and Head of the Central Military and Political Department of the Russian Armed Forces, took part in the opening ceremony of the 3rd CISM World Cadet Games in the Sobornaya Square of the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg.

Colonel General Victor Goremykin welcomed the participants of the Games: "It is gratifying that the CISM leaders decided to hold these prestigious international competitions in our country. We are justifiably proud of the outstanding traditions of military sports and our solid experience in organizing military-to-military competitions”.



More than 600 representatives of military educational institutions from 20 countries will participate in the 3rd World Cadet Games, including representatives from Belarus, Mozambique, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Armenia, Eswatini, Syria, UAE, Guinea, Cameroon, Palestine, Myanmar, Iran, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Tanzania, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan.

"Cadets from 20 countries are ready to show their best qualities - strength, agility, perseverance and will to win. I wish all participants unforgettable sports impressions and victories achieved in a fair competition. May the strongest win", said Viktor Goremykin.

The program of the 3rd CISM World Cadet Games includes competitions in seven sports such as international military pentathlon, athletics, orienteering, shooting, volleyball, swimming and summer biathlon (cross-country disciplines).



In total, during 5 days of competition, 94 medals between young men and women will be contested. Traditionally, the most medal-rich sports of the Games are swimming and track and field, where the cadets will compete for 34 and 20 sets of medals respectively.

The competitions of the Games will be held in the sports facilities of the Central Sports Club of the Army in St. Petersburg. The training bases of the Toksovo Military Institute of Physical Culture and the P.F. Lesgaft State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Health will also participate in the competitions. The training bases of the Military Institute of Physical Culture in Toxovo, the P.F. Lesgaft National University of Physical Culture, Sport and Health in Kavgolovo, the shooting complex of the Military Institute of Physical Culture in Sertolovo, the Sosnovka Cultural and Recreational Park, the park of the Polytechnic University, the Primorets stadium, and the swimming pool of the Military Sports Club.



During the opening ceremony, paratroopers from the Central Army Sports Club and representatives of the CSKA Samara aerobatic team performed feats in the skies of St. Petersburg and the CISM flag was flown by the helicopter commander, military pilot 1st class, honored Master of Sports, Lieutenant Colonel Viktor Degtyar, multiple Russian and world champion.
