Opening Ceremony of the 3rd CISM World Winter Games Sochi 2017

 

 

SOCHI (RUS) – As the 3rd CISM World Winter Games’ first competitions started today in Sochi (RUS), the Ice Cube Multifunctional Sport Arena welcomed the 384 athletes from 25 nations for a wonderful Opening Ceremony in presence of many VIP’s: CISM President Colonel Abdulhakeem Alshino, CISM Secretary General Colonel Dorah Mamby Koita, Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation General Sergey Shoygu, Colonel Oleg Botsman, Chief of Delegation of the Russian Federation to CISM, CISM Board of Directors Members, high authorities of the Russian government as well as Russian Sports Legend such as Elena Isinbayeva, Svetlana Ishmuratova…

 

 

The Ceremony, which was broadcasted live on Match TV and was available in livestreaming on the CISM Official Platform www.militaryworld games.com, took place in the Ice Cube Multifunctional Sport Arena in front of 3000 spectators.

The Ceremony started with the projection of a movie related to the former CISM World Games. After a dynamic multimedia theatrical episode symbolizing the arrival of missions from different countries to Sochi associated with the live performance of a choreographic group and trapeze artists, the Athletes of the 25 participating Nations took part to the Nations Parade.

 

 

The CISM Flag and the Russian where then raised by 6 soldiers of the Russian Guard of Honor while the Russian National anthem and the CISM anthem were played.

The CISM President Colonel Abdulhakeem Alshino took the floor for his welcome speech during which he thanked the Russian Organizing Committee for the Organization of this mega event and wished good luck to all the participants. The Defense Minister of the Russian Federation General Sergey Shoygu also welcomed the participants and had the privilege to declare the 3rd CISM World Winter Games open!

 

 

As usual, three representatives of the athletes, judges and coaches uttered the oath while holding the CISM flag!

After some dance performances, the Russian Torchbearer entered the Stadium with the Flame and Svetlana Ishmuratova had the honor of lighting the Flame of the Games!

 

 

The Opening Ceremony ended up with national and folkloric dances and songs and a tremendous performance of the famous Alexandrov Ensemble!

  • 9:30 (MSK) Alpine Skiing

  • 11:00 (MSK) Climbing

  • 15:00 (MSK) Biathlon

  • 18:30 (MSK) Short Track

  • 20:00 (MSK) Climbing
