ANOTHER Russian Triumph in Moscow

 

MOSCOW (RUS) – The last two days of competition the 33rd World Military Wrestling Championship were held in Moscow with the Greco-Roman style competitions and, as it was the case during the previous day, the Russian Delegation once again delighted its fans with 6 new gold medals: in the GR -60kg, Gambolat Lokiaev defeated Murad Mammadov (AZE) in the final round while the Armenian Ararat Manucharyan and the Iranian Tala Shirzad Beheshti both took bronze.

 

 

The Russian Alexey Kiyankin became the new military world champion of the GR -67kg competition after his victory against the Armenian Aslan Poghosyan. Yahor Vladyka (BLR) and Mamadassa Sylla (FRA) had to settle for the third place.

In the GR -72kg, Adam Kurak (RUS) added another gold medal to the Russian Delegation collection thanks to his victory against Ulvu Ganizade (AZE) while the Greek Petros Manouilidis and the Armenian Armen Hakobyan grabbed the bronze medal.

 

 

The Russian Imil Sharafetdinov achieved an impressive performance as he won the title against the Kazakh Ashkat Dilmukhamedov in the GR -82kg final. Eduard Sargsyan (ARM) and Rafig Huseynov (AZE) finished on the third step of the podium.

It was also a good day for Sosruko Kodzokov (RUS) who defeated Abdvali Arman Alizadeh (IRI) in the GR -87kg final. Adem Boudjemline (ALG) and Islam Abbasov (AZE) finished third.

 

 

The last Russian gold medal of the day was won by Vitaii Shchur in the premier class competition (GR -130kg) after his victory against the Hungarian Balint Lam. Toannis Kargiotakis (GRE) and Behnam Mehdizadeh (IRI) took the bronze medal.

Russia left the four other gold medals to four different nations: Armenia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Azerbaijan and Finland. Rudik Mkrtchyan (ARM) won the title in the GR -55kg against Amangali Bekbolatov (KAZ). In the GR -63kg, Mohamad Nuorbakhsh brought another gold medal to the Islamic Republic of Iran as he defeated the Russian Sanal Semenov in an intense final round!

 

 

The Azeri Hasan Aliyev defeated another Russian wrestler, Chingiz Labazanov, in the GR -77kg final while the Finnish Elias Kuosmanen won the first title of Finland of this WMC with his god medal in the GR -97kg against the Swiss Damian Von Euw.

The Closing Ceremony of the Championship was finally held in presence of General Hyun-Soo Kim, Official CISM Representative of the event and Board of Directors Member, Lieutenant-Colonel Marko Korpela, PCSC Wrestling, Colonel Oleg Botsman, Chief of Delegation of the Russian Delegation, the Chiefs of Delegation of the participating Nations as well as local and international authorities.

 

 

The General Huyn-Soo Kim declared: “I would like to thank the Russian Armed Forces and the Russian Delegation for their involvement in the organization of this successful event that was held in the true CISM spirit under the slogan Friendship through Sport!”

The CISM Flag was then handed over to the Chinese Chief of Mission as the next edition of the Wrestling Championship will be held in 2019 in Wuhan, China, in the framework of the 7th CISM World Summer Games!
